Real Madrid reveal €32.19 million Illarra fee
Souvent comparé à Xabi Alonso, Asier Illarramendi (Real Sociedad) a été l'une des révélations de la Rojita cet été. Le Real Madrid se l'est "offert" pour 39 millions d'euros

On n'a pas fini d'envier l'Espagne. Alors qu'elle dispose déjà
des meilleurs milieux de terrain de la planète, la péninsule ibérique
continue de sortir des talents exceptionnels dans l'entrejeu. Le
parcours parfait de la Rojita à l'Euro U21 a permis de le vérifier. On
connaissait déjà Thiago Alcantara, dont l'explosion au plus haut niveau
aurait probablement été plus importante si un certain Xavi ne sévissait
pas au FC Barcelone.
Asier Illarramendi, lui, a profité du départ à la retraite de Mikel
Aramburu l'été dernier pour se révéler cette saison à la Real Sociedad.
Et le milieu de 23 ans, souvent présenté en Espagne comme le successeur
de Xabi Alonso, n'a fait que confirmer tout le bien qui se dit de lui
lors de l'Euro U21. Le Real Madrid va désormais pouvoir juger sur pièce.
Illarra, comme il est appelé en Espagne, cultive en effet pas mal de similitudes avec le milieu du Real Madrid. A l'instar de l'international espagnol, Illarramendi est d'origine basque et a fait toutes ses gammes au sein des équipes de jeunes de la Real Sociedad avant de faire ses premiers pas en pro avec la formation de San Sebastian, à la fin de la saison 2009/2010. Depuis qu'il joue au plus haut niveau, Illarra a montré d'autres points communs avec Xabi Alonso. Les deux hommes évoluent dans un registre comparable au poste de milieu défensif et se rapprochent aussi dans leurs caractéristiques et leur style de jeu. Ils se démarquent notamment par une qualité et une variété de passes remarquables. Capables d'alterner jeu court et long avec autant d'efficacité, ils dépassent la fonction de simple récupérateur pour tenir davantage un rôle de "regista", capable de faire le lien entre le milieu et l'attaque depuis une position reculée sur le terrain.
Le passeur le plus précis de l'Euro U21
Ces similitudes entre Illarramendi et Xabi Alonso se lisent aussi dans les statistiques. Pour sa première saison en tant que titulaire à la Real Sociedad, l'international Espoirs a affiché des chiffres comparables à ceux du Madrilène en Liga. Sur le plan défensif, Illarra est légèrement au-dessus de Xabi Alonso. Il a réussi plus de tacles en moyenne par match (3,8 contre 3,2) et plus d'interceptions (2,3 contre 1,9) que l'ancien joueur de Liverpool, qui a cependant remporté plus de duels aériens (2,1 contre 1,6). Les statistiques offensives parlent plutôt en faveur du Merengue, qui a réalisé en moyenne plus de passes (65,7 contre 50,2) avec un taux de réussite supérieur (83% contre 80,7%) et plus de "passes-clé" (les passes à l'origine d'une occasion de but) qu'Illara (1,8 contre 1). Ils ont un impact comparable sur leurs équipes. Au Real, Xabi Alonso est le joueur qui réalise le plus de passes par match comme Illarra à la Real Sociedad, dont le jeune milieu est aussi le meilleur tacleur.
Les comparaisons s'arrêtent là. Avec seulement une saison pleine derrière lui, Illarramendi a évidemment tout à prouver avant de pouvoir éventuellement être désigné comme le digne successeur de Xabi Alonso. Mais sa montée en puissance est d'autant plus remarquable qu'elle a été confirmée à l'Euro U21, où le joueur de la Real Sociedad s'est imposé comme un titulaire indiscutable de l'équipe d'Espagne. Le duo qu'il a formé avec Thiago Alcantara a été l'une des principales explications de la domination de la Rojita. Le Real Madrid n'en attend pas moins.
Real Madrid confirm Illarra move
Reports this morning indicated that Madrid had deposited the Under-21 international’s contract at the offices of the Spanish Football League, having resolved to activate his €30m release clause and pay the previously disputed extra €6m due in VAT.
La Real, in then calling a Press conference attended by the President, sporting director and Illarramendi himself, have now confirmed that Los Blancos have acted as such and that the player is now bound for the Santiago Bernabeu.
“This morning the LFP has called to tell us that Real Madrid have activated Illarramendi’s buyout clause,” began President Jokin Aperribay to assembled reporters.
“Our interest was for him to stay, we want to thank the player for the years he has been here. We are sorry that he is leaving.
“We have a very important year at a sporting level, with a young Coach, and we wanted all the players to continue.
“We did not want to negotiate with Real Madrid, and this we also told to Asier and his agents.
“We were not prepared for the money to be paid in instalments.
“The price is €32.19m, plus €6.759m in VAT, which amounts to a total of €38,949,900, which is what Madrid have placed with the LFP.”
Sporting director Lorenzo Juarros, Loren, also spoke at the conference: “He is a major player and this is much sooner than expected, but Real Sociedad will remain competitive.”
During the Press conference Real Madrid released an official statement to also declare that the transfer is going through.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who was also a target for English Premier League club Manchester City, was presented at the Bernabeu stadium yesterday.
Malaga-born Isco helped the south-coast club to the Champions League quarter-finals last season and caught the eye with a series of scintillating performances at this month’s under-21 European Championship in Israel.
He scored a penalty in Spain’s 4-2 victory over Italy in the final and was voted player of the tournament.
Italian Ancelotti took the reins at Real on Wednesday, replacing Portuguese Jose Mourinho who returned to former club Chelsea after failing to win major silverware last season.
The Italian coach hailed the youngster’s ability when he was formally presented.
“I can only speak about his quality,” said Ancelotti. “He is very good, the Spanish under-21 team has great players and he is the one with the most talent. Isco could play in any team.”
Isco, who typically plays as a roving attacking midfielder and is on the fringes of the senior Spain squad, will compete for a place in the Real side with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Kaka and Luka Modric.

Isco also showed his support for Barça in the 2011 Champions League final with a subversive tweet, making reference to Jose Mourinho’s infamous ‘Por Qué?’ rant after Madrid were knocked out in the semi-finals by Barça.
